We are thankful for the women in our lives who make a world of difference. Mother is our first teacher, teaching us how to face the world around us. Mother is the one who nurtures us when we are young, teaches us right from wrong, and guides us to be people of nobility with her sacrificial life. 

 “All I am or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother,” Abraham Lincoln once said about his step-mother who had come into his life as young boy. She taught him to read as he didn’t have the opportunity to always attend school as he helped his father manage their farm. But he went on to be a soldier, a lawyer, a man with convictions running for office. He faced failure but was persistent. He became the leader of the US during a tumultuous time known as the Civil War.  And he made a lasting legacy not just because he became a President, but because his life is a tribute to the woman who encouraged him to be a noble man.

“The mother loves her child most divinely not when she surrounds him with comfort and anticipates his wants, but when she resolutely holds him to the highest standards and is content with nothing less than his best,” Hamilton Wright Mabie once wrote.

Late Spring But Summer is on the Way!!!

Runners, and Walkers - The Sunset Stampede is on its way!

May 5th is approaching fast. Why is that date so important, you may ask. Because it is the evening of the largest annual running event on Navarre Beach - The Sunset Stampede 5K.

The run began in 2009 drawing the largest running crowd to Navarre Beach and each year it grows as word gets out.

The Track route begins at the Navarre Beach park and end along the Sound shore on Arkansas St. The run will begin at 6:30 p.m.. For kids a one mile fun run will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Registration for the Sunset Stampede is limited to the first 1000 to register. The cost is $25 until April 13 when the cost will go up to $30. If interested, register soon and save - www.NavarreSunsetStampede.com.

For all participating runners/ walkers will receive a participant ribbon, Tech T-shirt, complimentary massage at the finish line,  and access to the after party under Juana's Beach Tent.

Fun Fest 2012 on Navarre Beach

It's coming soon - The 28th Annual Fun Fest on Navarre Beach. The fun will take place Friday, April 27 from 4 to 10 p.m. and Saturday, April 28 10 a.m. to 10 p.m..

This festival is sure to have something for the whole family with food, entertainment, local businesses and artisans. Plan you weekend escape with Navarre Vacation Rentals and let the fun begin.

Ms. Fun Fest 2012 will be officially announced as the pageant will take place a few days prior at Navarre High.

For running enthusiasts, come out and join in the annual 5 K or the Fun Run (1 mile) that will take place at 8 a.m. on Saturday. These non-competitive runs are to earn money for the Navarre Beach Marine Sanctuary.

Now if you and your friends are the sort up for a good competition - create a team of 4 people and enter the Race for the Seagull Corporate Challenge. This Challenge will have your team competing in games, trivia, watermelon eating contests, a chip and putt, 5 K, and a standing paddle board race.

If music is your interest, Friday and Saturday nights the festival will be hosting live concerts taking place at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m..

For kids, there will be a children's area with inflatables - admission is charged. Friday $10; Saturday $15; and for the whole weekend access $20.

For your convenience there will be free shuttles running from the County Park to Navarre Beach during the hours of Fun Fest. And to end the fun, stick around for the grand finale of fireworks.
