Boo at the Gulf Breeze Zoo

It is getting to be that time of year again – when spooky tales and dress up is common. IT is Halloween aka All Hallows Eve preceding All Saints Day (Nov. 1)

The Gulf Breeze Zoo is offering a family friendly fun Halloween outing – the Trick or Treat Trail.
The Trick or Treat Trail tickets are $12 a person, and the trail is open from 10 am to 4 pm.

Adults and children are encouraged to wear costumes – just not scary ones and for adults, no masks. There will be stations for treats and treasures along the trail. Animals also will be out like usual for viewing. The Zoo train is not included in the Trick or Treat Trail ticked.

Also, to collect their treasures, each paying child will receive a Trick or Treat Trail bag.
This weekend is the last weekend for the Halloween outing so make you plans to visit the Gulf Breeze Zoo today.

Dear Mom...Thank You

“Some are kissing mothers and some are scolding mothers but it is love just the same, and most mothers kiss and scold together.” Pearl S. Buck

We are thankful for the women in our lives who make a world of difference. Mother is our first teacher, teaching us how to face the world around us. Mother is the one who nurtures us when we are young, teaches us right from wrong, and guides us to be people of nobility with her sacrificial life.

“All I am or hope to be, I owe to my angel mother,” Abraham Lincoln once said about his step-mother who had come into his life as young boy. She taught him to read as he didn’t have the opportunity to always attend school as he helped his father manage their farm. But he went on to be a soldier, a lawyer, a man with convictions running for office. He faced failure but was persistent. He became the leader of the US during a tumultuous time known as the Civil War.  And he made a lasting legacy not just because he became a President, but because his life is a tribute to the woman who encouraged him to be a noble man.

“The mother loves her child most divinely not when she surrounds him with comfort and anticipates his wants, but when she resolutely holds him to the highest standards and is content with nothing less than his best,” Hamilton Wright Mabie once wrote.

This Mother’s Day – amid the hustle and bustles of cards, flowers and brunch, remember all the efforts that go unsung for the woman who loves tirelessly. Happy Mother’s Day.

The Stork has landed at the Gulf Breeze Zoo!

Lions and Tigers and Gorillas, Oh my!

One of the attractions to the Navarre -  Pensacola area is the Gulf Breeze Zoo located off of Hwy 98.  And as of late there has been much ado and not over nothing.

Yet another reason to make your visit to our Gulf Coast is to see the latest addition to the Gulf Breeze Zoo. Jan. 23 a little male gorilla was born. His name – although many suggestions have been voiced – has yet to be decided upon.

As this is the first time his mother has had a baby, the zoo keepers are assisting in nursing the little gorilla and nurturing him.

Feb. 4 was the little ape’s first appearance to the public.

If you think you have an ideal name, send it to 5701 Gulf Breeze Pkwy, Gulf Breeze Fl 32562 or visit their facebook page.

Name submissions will be accepted through the month of February, and a decision will be made March 15.
